4TH OF JULY 2010 - Posted July 13th, 2010

We camped in a great campground not far from Woods Canyon Lake. We had campsites in the woods and also by the cliff. The views were terrific.

Here's a hammock swung between two trees right at the cliff edge. With the breeze it made a great peaceful place for a nap after a long ride.

We had perfect weather for our ides. A little breezy, temps in the low 70s, and full sunshine every day.

We found a number of good places with water.

As always we had a great potluck Saturday evening with too much food as usual.

We had a great ride down to Bronco Creek and we rode to Seven Springs.

Bronco Creek runs downhill to Seven Springs where we stopped for a while and enjoyed the fall colors.

EMPIRE RANCH-LAS CIENEGAS CONSERVATION AREA - Posted October 27th, 2008

The grass was really tall all over the ranch. They has about 20 inches of rain during the monsoon season.

Everywhere we looked we were surrounded by beautiful mountain views. We had a small group, only 7 riders, but we had a lot of fun. More people showed up for the potluck supper so that was fun too.

The weather was warmer than expected. The hoses and mules appreciated the cool creek water.

We found the shaded creek bottom with nice cool water.

FALL COLORS AT HART PRAIRIE - Posted September 29th, 2008

Part of our ride was on the Arizona Trail. We passed about 100 volunteers who were working on the trail trimming branches and clearing the trail. The footing on the trail is excellent and the ride is beautiful.

Riding through the aspens was like being in a Bev Doolittle painting. The leaves were just beginning to change and were falling on the ground.

We had a long stop at lunch time to enjoy the cool weather, beautiful scenery, and a great place for a nap.

After lunch we rode through the prairie and around Fern Mountain to get back to camp.

We had a cool ride though the meadows with lots of grass. All the rainy weather kept the creek running and made the ride wonderful.

Don't let the horses roll. The rains kept the water holes full.

Starting out for the morning ride we watered at the big stock tank. We had a great ride and found 2 geocaches one day, and another one the following day.

There has been a lot of rain lately so the forest was green and fresh. Here's the group coming up one of the great trails.

What a view!! As always, we had a great potluck supper with way too much food. We had a leftover potluck supper then next night. We saw a lot of elk passing through the meadow.

The weather was on and off rain, then a bit of snow. How beautiful is this?

It's a good thing most of us brought blankets for the mules and horses. The snow was gone when we woke up in the morning.

We had beautiful weather on Sunday and Monday for riding.

We keep getting more mules on the rides. Think maybe we'll become a mule club?

GREAT NEW HORSE CAMP - Posted May 7th, 2008

Here are the great facilities at the new "Equestrian Only" camp north of Globe. We will be camping here again in the spring of 2009.

Thom and June Clark's dog, Kayla, made good use of every water stop along the trail. This was just one of many good watering places.
